Survey Junkie Review

Online paid surveys are a controversial method for making money online simply because of the unreliable results many people have with online surveys.  Survey Junkie's tagline is “No scams. No fees. No lies.” which is comforting to those looking for an opportunity to make some extra cash in their pajamas.

In this post, I'm going to give you my Survey Junkie review and walk you through some strategies you can use to maximize your earnings! This page does contain my referral link for Survey Junkie!

What is Survey Junkie?

Survey Junkie is a paid survey site where you give your opinion in return for rewards (or money).

Their message is that you are becoming an influencer by giving your feedback to brands and businesses to shape better products.

As an influencer, you'll create a profile with some demographical and interest based information.  Survey Junkie uses this information to match you to surveys for businesses that fit your profile.

A big reason why people have negative experiences with paid survey sites is that they have a hard time finding surveys that match their profile.

I personally have struggled to find success on some survey sites, because after getting through the “demographic” questions, I'm booted from the survey because I don't fit the profile.

Survey Junkie promises better results.  Let's see if it's legit!

How to Create Your Survey Junkie Profile

The first step is to go to and Signup for an account.  In order to sign up, you'll need to be 13 years old or older and live in the United States, Canada, or Australia.

They will ask you to provide an email or sign up with Facebook or Google.  You'll then be asked a few brief questions about your zip code, age, and gender so they can create a demographic to understand what types of surveys fit your profile.

Just for signing up I got 25 points which are essentially equal to $0.25.  Each point is worth one cent (in USD).

When you Start Profile you'll be asked a series of questions about your life and interests.  Don't worry no one is going to get your social security card or steal your identity!  This is information to help make sure the right surveys get to you.

Besides… If you don't own a Cat, why would you take surveys about cats or cat products?

After completing the profile I earned another 50 points.  It also shows that I'm able to go back and make changes or update my profile as needed.

You can also see here on my profile screen that there are multiple types of profiles to fill out including shopping, health, and travel profiles.  If you fill out these profiles you'll increase your chances of getting higher paying surveys!

Now let's look at how to earn points for surveys!

Survey Junkie Pulse

Survey Junkie has a chrome extension called Survey Junkie Pulse that you can download in order to get relevant surveys to your inbox.

The extension basically tracks your search data so they can get a general idea about what you're interested in.  That way they can send you relevant surveys based on your interests and browsing behavior.

Don't worry.  They aren't going to share your personal information with anyone.  It's just so they can match surveys to your profile.  No one is going to know that you're watching cat videos at work…

When you download the extension you can instantly earn another 150 points.

Taking a Survey

On the main Survey screen, you'll see boxes with different surveys.  If you refresh your page you may notice that the surveys might change.  This is because surveys fill up fast and are not available to everyone all the time.  Most surveys fill up in 24-48 hours.

Don't worry though…

If you don't get in a survey, or if you've been kicked out of a survey after opening it, just try refreshing your browser and choose a different survey.

As shown above, the survey boxes will show you how many points you can earn for completing the survey and the estimated time to complete the survey.  This example shows a 20 point survey that takes about 7 minutes to complete.

When you click the Take Survey button, you'll be redirected to the companies website that is sponsoring the survey.

After completing the survey you should see a popup box on the Survey Junkie website that says, “Congratulations your survey is complete!” The points should then appear immediately in your account.

Some surveys take up to 24 hours to verify the completion.  If you see “pending points” just know that those points haven't been verified yet.  You'll be able to redeem those points after they have been verified.

How to Redeem Points

Like mentioned earlier 1 point is worth 1 cent.  You'll need 1,000 points or $10 to cash out.

You can see right from your member dashboard how many points you have and how many redeemable points you have.  Remember, redeemable points are all the points that have been verified that you can use for rewards.

If you click the Redeemable button you'll be able to see how many points you have and how many points you need to cash out.

There are three ways to redeem your points.

  1. Redeem with e-Giftcard
  2. Cash Out with PayPal
  3. Cash out with bank transfer

As you can see, Survey Junkie will pay cash directly to your bank when you're ready to cash out!

If you are redeeming points via PayPal you'll have to redeem all your available points.  So if you have $14 worth of points, you'll redeem for all $14.  If you want to redeem points for a gift card and the rest using PayPal, make sure you redeem the gift card points first.

Most payments are instant! Of course, a bank transfer typically takes about 2 business days, but PayPal withdrawals should appear instantly in your account.  If you have problems accessing your rewards just contact customer service and they will help you out!

How Much Money Will I Make Taking Surveys?

This is a great question to ask yourself with any survey site.  You will NOT get rich taking surveys! Survey Junkie even states on their website that you cannot expect to get rich from paid surveys.

If you think about the math…

If you find a survey for 90 points that takes 20 min you could do the math to see what that would be as an hourly wage.  That would equal $2.70/hr if you took 90 point – 20 min surveys.

That's less than minimum wage.

The nice thing about Survey Junkie is that there are some gems.

Keep refreshing your page and you'll find MUCH better surveys.  Just now I saw a 150 point – 4-minute survey!  If you did the math on that you'd be making $22.50/hr.

Now don't get carried away… You're probably not going to be doing 15 of those surveys for that amount in an hour… But doing the math you can see the value of the survey.

That brings us to my strategy for maximizing your earnings.

How to Maximize Your Earnings on Survey Junkie

Taking 30 point surveys that take 10 minutes to complete won't do you any good.  I don't think anyone wants to make $1.80/hr.  The key to success with online surveys is to look for the high ratio surveys.

Look for the highest possible points that require the least amount of time.

This is the #1 key to making money with the survey platform.  You could potentially make $10-20 an hour if you find yourself the right surveys.

Work quickly and answer quickly.

Probably the biggest frustration with survey sites is when you open a new survey and answer the first initial demographic questions you get booted out cause you don't fit the survey profile!

This is frustrating…

What is nice though is that Survey Junkie will usually give you some “pity points” for trying, but it still sucks…

All I can say is keep working as quickly as you can.  When you get booted out of one, refresh your page and look for another one.  Just move through them as fast as you can.

Remember the more you fill out your profile, the better chance you'll have of being matched with the correct survey profiles, but it's not guaranteed.  There could be times where you don't fit a handful of surveys.

Just because you get booted out of one or two surveys doesn't mean the survey site sucks and is a scam.  I see this all the time… People try out a survey site.  They don't qualify for the first survey they click on and get booted, and call the site a fraud!

That is not the case here! Just be persistent.

The Real Way to Make Money From Paid Survey Sites!

My mega strategy for maximizing earnings from Survey Junkie and other paid survey sites is to refer friends.

In the video below I show you how I'm able to make over $500 a month just from survey site referrals!

Becoming a Survey Junkie Affiliate will allow you to get a unique referral code that you can use to refer friends to the platform.

As of right now, you can earn $1.50 for every friend that signs up for Survey Junkie!

The best part about referrals is that you don't have to spend all your time taking surveys.  A quick share of the link on Facebook, Instagram, or other social media platforms can earn you some easy extra cash.

If you want to take it one step further you could Start a Blog or YouTube channel or some other type of online business platform to share your affiliate links.

I teach all about affiliate marketing and blogging right here on this website so make sure you browse my blog section to see some other really great articles on how to build an online business.

These are just a few of the popular posts on this website that will help you learn how to make money online!

Is Survey Junkie Legit?

The answer is yes.  Survey Junkie is a legit survey website that pays real money for completing surveys.

They have in my opinion one of the cleanest and most user-friendly interfaces of all the survey platforms available.  You can also take surveys on mobile devices.
